    • Hi GLeb, I believe it isn't and easy path to follow for anybody. Some people can be affected by other physical/psychological pathologies and become depressed, anxious etc..

Mostly, it's a matter of "living the moment" and working with thoughts, eat healthy, exercise regularly and get enough sleep. All of this must be done CONSISTENTLY.
There are plenty of clicnical settings willing to help people with special needs.

      Hope it help.

Andrea bondi August 30, 2017 6:56 AM Reply
    • I just have to say as someone with depression, you can actually control your thoughts and emotions. I will grant that it is more difficult, and takes some conscious effort, but I can still choose what goes on in my head, it just takes longer and requires more effort. Is that fair? No. But it is what you need to do if you want to be successful.

    1. Speak up
    2. Be honest with yourself
    3. Have confidence
    4. Listen more than you talk
    5. Manage your time- be effective instead of efficient
    6. Stop complaining
    7. Be in the present moment
    8. Be consistent in your goals
    9. Get enough sleep
    10. Have empathy

So for me, the hardest one is to learn to be present and the easiest is to have empathy… I want most of all to learn to manage my time and be consistent….

  • What's just as effective is being surrounded by people who exemplify these 10 skills and through their leading example and behaviour, motivate and inspire oneself to do likewise. This causes others to be influenced by one's example in bettering themselves and passing on the wave of change for good.

Social learning is vital as we better ourselves in groups and communities. In enacting the spirit of service, we learn to contribute back towards others than being self-absorbed.

  • About being in the moment, I hope the example given of food does not get taken out of context and somehow turns into emotionally eating your way into obesity. Too many people eat emotions instead of food… I like to breathe and write and certainly coming back to gratitude. Pets are amazing sources of grounding too. All in good balance whenever we can. But accepting the moments of imbalance too in order to move past it without wasting more time on regret or falling into the trap of suppression.

    3) I've relied on others opinions of my work to validate pursuing my art as a career. I love my work but havent been confident enough to pursue it bc I've been seeking approval. The moment I introduce and idea or solution and someone discourages it, I give up.
    4) This is amazing advice, being the last one to speak. Holding my opinion. I am putting this into practice.
    5) Managing time is managing boundaries
    6) ? I am the QUEEN of this. Become the incredible sulk. And then get stuck in the problem
    7) Being present is a practice that takes a lot of my energy, taking control when I worry or sulk re the past. Her actionable advice is more helpful than any adage.
    8) Consistency requires confidence too, to believe I can build with my consistent practice.
    9) not so hard
    10) my fav to practice, makes me feel better takes me out of the defensive and into understanding

These are what I'm trying to incorporate into my Sneaker Company It's tough when you have business partners who don't cooperate as much as you want, but I think these skills speak best to my current predicaments.

It's got to be Keeping Learning and Adapting – There is never a time where the master can not become the student. Even when you know the basics, question them, whether they can be improved upon and question them with others who are masters as well.
By keeping your Student Mentality, not only do you come off as humble and thoughtful, but you benefit from the alertness by seeing new opportunities everywhere!

Being empathetic is something i believe i have natrally and being the last to speak has always been my way of life. I will enter a scean or bar buy my own drinks maybe jump on a kareokee mic and leave right after. They always ask who was that girl.

The one that I need to work on clearly is to be in the present.
That skill is tough for me to cultivate.
    I will cultivate it.
    Happiness is the benefit.
All other skills, are what I have. Some more than the other.

  • #3 Having Confidence – Confidence is built on experience and understanding. You can't just pull confidence out of thin air; you have to build it the hard way. Self-proclaimed "confident" people who try to deceive others by acting like they know what they are doing or talking about are a dime a dozen. That's what I call false confidence.

    5. "We've traded effectiveness for busyness." So true.

    7. Staying in the present doesn't mean you shouldn't plan for the future.

    9. Having Empathy usually doesn't pay.

  • The one thing that I got from watching this video is effectively managing my time and not allowing people to take it from me and my family. One needs to have adequate time to think. Without adequate time to sit down and think, a person misses out on effectively leading a life of success and prosperity. Thanks Evan for another inspiring video. I am an avid fan of your videos.

  • All ten are interconnected. When someone is doing one of these, more likely he does all the other ones too. For example if you do not waist time, you are also are consistence, sleep on time so you would not be tired the next day so that you can stay in the moment . you would listen well. You would not complain or whine because it would be a waist of time.

When I'm tired I literally shut down – cannot power through that wall without a nap. Have you ever had a really good night's sleep where you dream deeply and long? You wake up refreshed, focused, and ready to tackle anything. You're also more patient, generous and better able to handle stresses. God Jehovah created our bodies to sleep for a reason!

  • skill #1 Speaking up Public Speaking JUST SPEAK HONESTLY & LOVINGLY
skill #2 Being Honest WITH YOURSELF
skill #3 Have Confidence but it must be true honest and not used against anyone it is to acknowledge what God Has Given you
skill #4 Listening – be the last to give your opinion take all into account all
skill #5 Managing your time ( Are you busy or affective) What is affective VALUE MY TIME God made you
skill #6 STOP WHINING. I need to have a greater Attitude of Gratitude but I can't turn that into WHINING. I need to be positive
and acknowledge what I do have and when I come up short in life process it and just learn to move past it.
skill #7 LIVING IN THE PRESENT SAVOR THE PRESENT (1 foot in past, I can't change the past, 1 foot in the future, I have no real control of the future. with both of these I am Pissing away the Present)

skill #8 BECONSISTANT GOOD TIMES BAD TIMES they are always going to COME AND GO. Take time to acknowledge them and Ask God for help. Then TRUST GOD and climb backup. when your backup ACKNOWLEDGE GOD thank him & try to help him with someone else who might be down.
skill #9 GET ENOUGH SLEEP ( I really need to work on this.)
skill #10 HAVE EMPATHY because BY THE GRACE OF GOD THERE GO I. The reason this is so important is that having empathy you can relate to the pain in your own life and you realize that I only have so much of control of my life Things will always happen. You learn to love yourself by caring for others.

  • Some really awesome stuff on this list but, if I were to add a #11, I might suggest learning how to read non-verbal communication. Perhaps, to some, this falls under listening and, in some ways, it does.

But the reason I suggest learning to read body language/non-verbal communication is that so many people will say what they think you want to hear. And so much of what we see/hear through the media is closer to a pack of lies than it is the truth and it's very important, if you are to sidestep pitfalls and landmines in life, to know the difference even if you say nothing about it depending on the circumstances.

Many people believe what they are told the most often. Whether that's the truth or a pack of lies can cause many to stumble and waste precious time.

you don't need to listen to other people, in fact you should learn how to say: Shut up.
and not only that, you should learn how to say: Shut the hell up. Look at
Donald Trump. Did he listen people who in his mind were wrong? As it turns
out they were wrong, weren't they.

  • To effortlessly reside in the "now" which is true reality, knowing that you are in it, and to view the game that most believe to be their reality from the viewpoint of one who holds the status of "observer" has mastered the genuine and sincere ability to perceive. We can and do perceive the "other" from somewhere else. We can and do perceive ourselves, therfore, where we perceive ourselves from is what we are, and not what we perceive ourselves to be. Peace.

    Speaking up
    ○ Otherwise it's a liability
    • Be honest to yourself
    ○ Don't lie to yourself like "my company is faster"
    • Having confidence
    ○ It's like a muscle, the more your practice the stronger you get
    • Listening
    ○ Give your opinion last
    ○ If you agree or disagree, don't says yes or node
    § But ask questions
    • Managing your time
    ○ Time is irreplaceable
    • Stop whining
    ○ No complain, critize
    • Staying present in the moment
    ○ You have the most control
    • Being consistent
    ○ Success is a journey
    • Getting enough sleep
    ○ To have energy during that day
    • Having empathy
Feel like others in the moment

  • Number 3 is not a skill, but and attitude based on beliefs, that many times are incorrect. I've seen many people deliver wrong data or fail miserably with extreme confidence. Practice, failure, success, experience, knowledge, and good mentorship can provide confidence, but confidence alone can be just delusion.

  • All of these skills are important. Those that I will immediately put into practice are:
    1. Be the last to speak
    2. No whining Wed
    3. Manage time. Be effective not busy
    4. Be consistent
    5. Get enough sleep

  • Being present is so important. In relations, in work, in faith…….. Second thought – Meryl Streep makes a claim about capitalists having no empathy. Not true and weakened her point.

  • Confidence is good if you know what you're talking about. Confidence is bad if you don't know what you're talking about – smart people will quickly peg you as a bullshitter, dumb people will believe you (though if you're a politician, the latter might be the objective).
